Savannah gas prices up sharply

Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have risen 9.5 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.47 a gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.

The national average has increased 14.4 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.48, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Prices Sunday were 0.5 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 7.7 cents a gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 21.1 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 4.4 cents higher than a year ago.

“The national average has ticked higher in the last week, as rising oil prices have put upward pressure on gasoline prices,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “Unfortunately for angry motorists, there doesn’t seem to be much relief in sight, at least for the time being, as retail prices continue to climb in virtually all areas of the country.”
