Savannah’s Chef Joe Randall is a ‘cover man’
Chef Joe Randall, who owns Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School and is the author of the cookbook “A Taste of Heritage: The New African-American Cuisine,” is featured as the fall cover story by Cuisine Noir magazine.

Chamber to host eggs and issues breakfast
The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Council will host its annual Eggs and Issues Legislative Breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the Hilton Savannah Desoto.
The chamber will present its 2015 State Legislative Agenda at this meeting, and guests will include members of the Chatham County legislative delegation.
Individual tickets are $25 for chamber members and $35 for non-members. Tables of 10 are $250 for chamber members and $350 for non-members.

Homes being built, renovated for military families in S.C.
BEAUFORTY, S.C. — Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (AMCC) will invest approximately $29 million over the next two years in building and upgrading homes for military families at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and Naval Hospital Beaufort.
Demolition has begun the Laurel Bay community where 42 homes are being replaced with new, energy efficient, larger homes. These homes are expected to be ready for occupancy in late 2015.
Also underway in the Laurel Bay community are upgrades to more than 1,000 legacy homes. The one-story homes are receiving new flooring and new HVAC systems to improve energy efficiency. Many homes in the neighborhood are also receiving new roofs. The project is expected to be complete in 2016.

Kickstarter underway for local maker’s space
Two entrepreneurs are seeking to raise money on Kickstarter to launch a local makerspace.
Started by Ty Donaldson, a SCAD grad, and Tim Cone, a UGA grad, Maven Makers is working to establish a shared workspace where the the community can come and share knowledge, design and creativity. Through access to shared tools and work space, members could work on projects such as woodworking, metalworking, 3D printing and laser cutting among other crafts.
The duo launched their 30-day crowdfunding campaign Oct. 11 and are looking to raise $25,000 to secure a facility.
Their concept aims to sway local college students to stay put after graduating to pursue a creative career and create a new innovative educational structure for adaptive learning for every generation.
