Savannah area gas prices nudge upward
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have risen 0.4 cents per gallon in the past week to $2.82 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has fallen 2.6 cents a gallon in the last week to $2.94, according to gasoline price website
GasBuddy.com.
Prices in Savannah Sunday were 35.4 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 34.8 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 30.6 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 26.9 cents lower than a year ago.
“While the decreases are likely to wind down, motorists shouldn’t expect any big rebounds before the holidays,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy. “Nationally, prices are likely to remain under $3 a gallon for the holidays.”

Savannah Kroger customers donate to breast cancer awareness
Kroger customers and employees in metro Savannah donated more than $55,000 during a month-long campaign to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Coastal Georgia Affiliate.
The campaign ran from Oct. 5–Nov. 1, and gave customers the opportunity to buy pink paper ribbons for $1 at checkout.
“Thanks to the generosity of our Savannah customers and associates, we are one step closer to finding a cure for the more than 230,000 American women who are diagnosed each year,” said Kroger spokesman Glynn Jenkins. “Their donations reflect our commitment to raising awareness and support for this important cause.”
