Parker’s donates $10,000 to local schools

Parker’s convenience stores presented a $10,000 Fueling the Community check to Savannah-Chatham County public schools at a school board meeting on Nov. 5.

“I truly believe education is the rising tide that lifts all boats. Education helps make Chatham County a stronger community, reduces crime and increases opportunity for young people,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of Parker’s.

Parker’s donates one cent on the profit of every gallon of gas purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to area schools.

Parker’s operates 36 convenience stores in Georgia and South Carolina and employs more than 400 people.

Health educational series raises cash for group

By matching proceeds raised from a lecture by physical trainer and former weightlifter Kerri Goodrich, Enmark Stations raised $1,000 for Performance Initiatives.

Goodrich’s lecture was the fourth of five lectures in the Enmark Encourage Health Educational Series 2014. The nonprofit also raised funds during the Enmark Dollar Day, receiving $1 for every car wash, $1 at the group’s charity table and $1 donations from Enmark customers.

Enmark presented the check to Goodrich, the founder and director of Performance Initiatives, during a health educational lecture on Oct. 28.

“At Performance Initiatives, we want to inspire and implement principles in programs which will enrich the lives of others physically, psychologically, and spiritually,” Goodrich said. “This donation helps us continue to influence and help the youth in our community.”

Enmark has partnered with Healthy Savannah, the Savannah Morning News, Savannah Magazine, WJCL and GPB Savannah — WSVH 91.1/WWIO 89.9 to present the series of five wellness lectures benefiting local nonprofit organizations.
