Florida hotel company moves into Savannah
South Florida-based B Hotels & Resorts has acquired its first hotel outside the state of Florida with the purchase of the former Country Inn and Suites at 320 Montgomery St. in Savannah.
The 101-room hotel has been renamed B Historic Savannah.
“The arrival of B Historic Savannah is an incredible milestone for us, and it signifies the first of several exciting new property announcements to come,” said Ayelet Weinstein, president and CEO of B Hotels & Resorts.
Renovation of the hotel is scheduled to begin in the near future, the company said. The property will remain open during the renovation.

Georgia Southern online program highly ranked
STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University’s online master of education in higher education administration has been ranked in the top 10 of TheBestSchools.org “25 Best Online Master in Higher Education Degree Programs.”
“The high ranking is no surprise. It confirms the excellence of the program to prepare students for higher education positions in student services, academic affairs, and business affairs,” said Thomas Koballa, dean of the College of Education.

Nominations open for Hilton Head Chamber awards
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for two awards.
The Alice Glenn Doughtie Good Citizenship Award recognizes individuals who have performed “selfless community service in the spirit of brotherhood.”
The Outstanding Organization Award is presented to any civic, business, service or fraternal group in recognition of significant contributions to the well-being of the community.

Made in the South scheduled this weekend
The 2014 Christmas Made in the South show will be held in The Savannah International Trade & Convention Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
“It will be like having 350 little shops to visit,” said show organizer Janice Hunt. “This is a juried show; so everything must be the exhibitor’s own work and design, not commercially made or manufactured.”
Adult admission is $7; children 12 and under are free. One admission is good for all three days with a hand stamp, and there is free parking.
