Local 1414 of the International Longshoremen’s Association spent Tuesday morning giving out Thanksgiving staples to social service organizations and churches at the union hall on East Lathrop Avenue.
Donations included, 300 two-pound bags of Dixie Crystals sugar, courtesy of Imperial Sugar and 300 $15 grocery gift cards from the Georgia Stevedore’s Association.
The Local 1414 added 300 $40 grocery gift cards.
The nonprofits picked up what they needed to put into Thanksgiving baskets for needy families in the area, said Tommy Stokes, president of the Local 1414 International Longshoremen’s Association.
