Ribbon-cutting set today for urgent care center
AppleCare Urgent Care’s president and CEO, Chase Finley, its management team, doctors and nurses will celebrate the opening of their newest urgent care location in Savannah with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. today.
Working in partnership with Memorial Health, AppleCare has taken over management and operation of Memorial’s urgent care location at 14089 Abercorn St. in front of Savannah Mall.
“(AppleCare) focuses exclusively on urgent care, and we believe their experience and expertise in this category will help us better serve our patients,” said William Lee, chief strategy officer at Memorial Health.
The center will be open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Visits may be made with or without an appointment.
ReStore schedules weekly how-to workshops
Habitat ReStore, in partnership with Home Depot, will hold various how-to-workshops on Saturdays throughout the month of December.
The hour-long workshops will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and are free for anyone who registers at the ReStore. The workshops are: Dec. 6, how install a bathroom vanity; Dec. 14, how to decorate a Christmas tree; and Dec. 20, how to install a toilet.

The board of directors of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) on Wednesday declared a regular quarterly dividend of 62 cents per share on the company’s common stock, payable February 6, 2015, to shareholders of record on Jan. 16.

GnomeCon slated for March 6-8 in downtown Savannah
GnomeCon, a locally organized science fiction/fantasy and gaming convention, is slated for March 6-8 at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St,
This is the fourth year for the event, which drew more than 850 people this year and helped raise more than $1,400 for Live Oak Public Libraries.
The three-day event hosts a variety of events, from costume-making workshops to the midnight viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Also featured will be Professor Fear’s Game Show; the local improv group “Odd Lot;” comedian Phil Keeling and other geek-centric activities.
