Leadership Georgia class includes two Savannahians
Two Savannah residents have been named to the Leadership Georgia Class of 2015 — Brian P. Smith, a senior vice president/retail banking manager with Ameris Bank, and Julie Wade, owner of the Wade Law Firm.
Leadership Georgia is a 43-year-old organization of community and state leaders affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and designed to train and build a network of emerging young leaders from across the state.
Past participants include a number of influential state and national leaders ranging from former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn to former University of Georgia football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley.
Sixty-three participants are selected each year, and class members visit five Georgia communities in a year-long exchange of ideas and experiences about important issues affecting the state.
This class will travel to Brasstown Valley, Thomasville, Jekyll Island, Statesboro and Atlanta.
Georgia Power launches Project SHARE campaign
ATLANTA — Georgia Power has announced the return of its annual Project SHARE campaign, which was created in partnership with The Salvation Army in 1985.
Since its inception, more than one million Georgians have benefitted from the program that helps residents in need of emergency assistance with expenses such as utility bills, housing, food and even medical necessities.
By enrolling in the program, customers have the option to make an automatic monthly donation of $1, $2, $5 or $10 simply by adding the amount to their bill payment. Georgia Power then matches the donation, dollar for dollar.
Funds will be allocated back to residents within the county from which they are contributed.
