Enmark to pick nonprofits for 2015 help
Enmark Stations will use a Facebook contest to select four nonprofits to benefit from the company’s 2015 Encourage Health Series.
Any Savannah-area registered 501(c)3 nonprofit that has a mission to promote healthy living, active lifestyles or nutritional education may enter.
To be eligible, the nonprofit must “like” the Enmark page — facebook.com/enmarkstations — and post a comment explaining why its organization should be chosen. An advisory board will consider the total number of “likes” on individual posts for the final selection.
The deadline is midnight Jan. 8. Winners will be announced Jan. 9.
Each nonprofit that’s selected will receive a grant from Encourage health education sponsors and will be allotted an Enmark Dollar Day — $1 for every car wash, donations from Enmark customers at the registers and charity table.
Winners also will receive their own QR code to be scanned with purchases at any of the 64 Enmark stores. The organization with the most scans will receive a grand prize.

Dollar General donates $40,000 to Beaufort Elementary School
BEAUFORT, S.C. — Dollar General stores have donated $40,000 to Beaufort Elementary School in Beaufort, S.C., as part of their Reading Revolution program, which is designed to provide schools with resources to buy books, computers and other educational supplies.
“By supporting Beaufort Elementary School with this gift, we hope to help students become better readers, more successful students and lifelong learners,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s director of community initiatives.
Company officials said Beaufort Elementary was chosen because of its proximity to the Dollar General store at 11 Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort.
