Marketing series for small businesses set for Bluffton
BLUFFTON, S.C. — On Jan. 7, the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will begin a series on digital marketing to support local businesses. Community members are invited to participate with business owners, managers, marketing professionals and those interested in technology being the primary audience.
The Bluffton chamber joined with local company Nosoco to provide the workshops. Plans are underway to provide other seminars in tax, law, technology, starting a business and taking your business to the next level. The first topic will be Digital Marketing 101, presented at 9 a.m. at the chamber, 217 Goethe Road.

Memorial wins recognition for heart institute
The Heart & Vascular Institute at Memorial University Medical Center recently received recognition from several organizations.
The Joint Commission awarded Memorial with a two-year disease–specific certification for its heart-failure program.
“Achieving this Joint Commission certification is a major part of maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide our patients,” said Jennifer Yeh, medical director of the heart failure program at Memorial.
An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest accrediting body in health care.
The Heart & Vascular Institute also earned a significant accreditation – Chest Pain Accreditation with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) – from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.
Savannah nonprofits receive grants from insurance firm
Stevens Hale & Associates has announced the distribution of grant allocations to two local nonprofits.
The Royce Learning Center and the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision (SavannahCBLV) each received $400 from the Savannah insurance agency to help fund programs and services.
“I have a professional and personal connection to both of these local groups and am so pleased to be able to provide this funding,” said Dana Stevens, account executive with Stevens Hale & Associates.
Stevens serves on the Royce Learning Center’s board of directors and is the insurance agent for SavannahCBLV.
Lois Modell, executive director of Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision, said the money will allow them to buy eight new canes for clients who may not be able to afford them.
