Real Estate Academy to have career night

The Academy of Real Estate, located in the Coldwell Banker building at 6349 Abercorn St., will have an open house from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, for anyone who’s interested in a new or advanced career in real estate.

Instructors will discuss pre-license, post-license and continuing education courses via online or classroom instruction.

Women in construction to have monthly meeting

Coastal Georgia National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will have its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at the Exchange Tavern on Waters Avenue.

Leigh Acevedo, manager of business retention for the Savannah Economic Development Authority, will be the featured speaker. Acevedo is responsible for leading initiatives to help local businesses grow and expand.

She works with businesses to ensure they have access to available incentives, programs, partnerships and services. She also works closely with local and state partners to deliver educational programs and address workforce needs for the industry.

Registration and networking begin at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The cost is $20 for members and $30 for guests. This includes dinner. RSVP to Candace Forkner at cforkner@pioneersavannah.com.

Digital marketing boot camp coming in February

A class scheduled by the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center next month will teach owners and employees how to use technology and marketing to build small-business profits.

The session will be 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Savannah Technical College in the Eckburg Auditorium, 5717 White Bluff Road.

Sessions include:

• ABCs of SEO

• Connecting with customers in a mobile world

• Competing in an e-commerce world

• Making Facebook strategic

• Broadband and the Internet of things

• Using Google tools for growth

• The visual revolution: Pinterest, Instagram and video

• How great companies make digital marketing work

The cost is $49 apiece with materials and lunch provided.

The event is free, but registration is required, and class size is limited. To register, visit georgiasbdc.org and click on “register for a class.”
