Kroger, customers raise money for food bank
Kroger customers and employees raised more than $50,000 for America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia during a November-December fundraising effort.
More than $40,800 was contributed to Kroger’s 2014 Can Hunger Campaign, and $10,000 was raised by a second initiative when customers could buy $1, $3 and $5 icons.
In addition, a two-week company-wide promotion “Bringing Hope to the Table” — in partnership with key suppliers — featured hundreds of popular products at sale prices. A portion of those proceeds also benefitted the local food bank.
Altogether, Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Savannah, raised more than $568,600 through Can Hunger and more than $191,500 from “Bringing Hope to the Table” for a total of $760,100 — the equivalent of 2.9 million meals at food banks across Georgia, eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
Bank to host financial fitness events

Social media users can join the conversation by using the hashtag #FinancialFitnessFridays.
“As the new year begins, people often resolve to improve their physical health,” said Carol Clarke, manager of the Regions Financial Education Institute. “We are encouraging everyone to develop healthy financial habits as well, such as saving, paying off debt and planning for retirement.”
