Sea Island Bank names Barton to advisory board
Sea Island Bank, a division of Synovus Bank, has appointed Jerry Barton to its local Advisory Board.

His extensive banking career provides the board with additional expertise about the banking industry and market opportunities,” said Bruce Yawn, chairman of the Sea Island Advisory Board. “Savannah provides a significant growth opportunity for Sea Island Bank, and Jerry’s knowledge of the area will contribute greatly to our bank’s success.”
Ken Rabitsch, Savannah city president of Sea Island Bank, said Barton successfully launched Sea Island Bank in the Savannah market in 2004 and “he continued to lead and motivate our team prior to his retirement last year. We look forward to his continued involvement and leadership.”
Barton, who will assume the role of chairman for the Advisory Board, began his banking career in 1969 and has spent his entire career in various executive positions in the Savannah market.
Georgia Southern online business programs ranked among the best
STATESBORO — The U.S. News & World report has ranked Georgia Southern University’s College of Business Administration online programs as one of the best online programs for 2015.
The MBA program ranked 18th, tied with Mississippi State University, for the Best MBA Programs for Online Students, while the College’s Online Graduate Business Programs (Excluding MBA) ranked 21st.
According to the report, the 2015 Best Online MBA Programs and Best Online Graduate Business Programs are the best online master’s degree programs in business based upon admissions selectivity, reputation for excellence among peer institutions, and academic and career support services for students.

Magazine picks best new hotels in South
Southern Living magazine has released its picks for the Top 10 Best New Hotels in the South.
The Brice on Bay Street in Savannah came in at number four. South Carolina has two hotels on the list (neither in Charleston or Hilton Head Island), and the number one pick went a hotel in Oklahoma.
The Brice, a Kimpton hotel at 601 E. Bay St, recently attained a Four Diamond Rating from AAA less than six months after it opened. The Brice is one of 10 hotels in Savannah to receive the Four Diamond Rating.
The property, originally developed in the 1860s, was also a horse livery, cotton warehouse, grocer, machine shop and site of Savannah’s first Coca-Cola bottling plant.
