Savannah firms among Bulldog Top 100 fastest growing firms

ATHENS — Two Savannah firms are among the Bulldog 100 fastest growing firms — companies owned or operated by University of Georgia alumni — recognized Saturday by the University of Georgia Alumni Association.

Cay Insurance Services Inc., ranked No. 66 on the list. The UGA alumni involved in the company are John Sipple, who graduated in 2000, and Christopher Cay, a 1997 grad.

No. 88 on the list is Seacrest Partners, with graduates Cliff McCurry in 1971 and Cindy Parker Robinett in 1989. This marks the fourth straight year Seacrest has made the Bulldog 100.

Palmer & Cay LLC, which is based in Atlanta but traces its roots to Savannah and has an office here, was ranked No. 6. The UGA grad is Jack Cay, 1996.

At No. 72 in the ranking was Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia, which is based in Jesup. Partner J. Lex Kennerly III graduated in 1978.

The Atlanta office of Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors partnered with the UGA Alumni Association to review nominated businesses’ financial records to determine the ranked list for the sixth annual awards.

To be considered, each organization must have been in business for at least five years, experienced revenues in excess of $100,000 for the calendar year 2011 and be owned or operated by a former UGA student who owns at least 50 percent of the company or be the CEO, president or managing partner.

More than 450 nominations were received, and companies as far west as Texas and as far northeast as Pennsylvania, made the list. The average compounded annual growth rate was 47.66 percent.
