Savannah Jaycees recognized at state convention
The Savannah Jaycees was named the outstanding chapter of the year at the Georgia Jaycees state convention in Athens earlier this month. The group’s previous president, Sarah Westberry, was recognized as member of the year.
“It was such an honor to receive Jaycee of the Year award,” Westberry said. “I would have never received it without the support and dedication of the members of our organization.”
Current president Randi Hempel said she was thrilled to accept the chapter of the year award.
“I couldn’t be more proud of all of our members and the amount of time and dedication they have all put into rebuilding the Savannah Jaycees,” Hempel said.
At the convention, Hempel and Westberry were asked to speak on a panel about how the chapter worked to grow its membership to 55 individuals from only a few.
