SCORE offers sessions on business startups

Beginning March 18, Savannah SCORE will present a series of business lectures titled “Simple Steps for Starting Your Own Business.” This will be the third offering of the series of workshoplectures.

They will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SCORE conference room, 111 E. Liberty St., on consecutive Wednesdays through April 15.

Subjects will include:

• Concepts involved with evaluating a business idea

• Marketing your product or service

• Understanding business financials and how they work

• Funding and financing your business

Each workshop is interactive with examples, supporting resources and exercises.

The first session will be on startup basics. It will focus on the basics of testing your business idea and identifying the key factors that influence startup success.

The total price for all five workshops is $25. Registration and tuition are being accepted until March 15. For more information and to register, call 912-652-4335.

2015 River Street festival series off to ‘sweet start’

Sweets on the Street will kick of the 2015 festival series on River Street tonight and Saturday. The First Friday and Saturday celebration will feature local confectioners serving pastries, artisan chocolates and gourmet cookies.

“Savannah is known for wonderful dining, but our staff all agreed there are some incredible places in the hostess city to get dessert,” said Carrie Bligh, executive director of the Savannah Waterfront Association.

Vendors include Baked by Rach, Capital Bee Company, Daddy O’s, Indulge Coffee, Chocolat by Adam Turoni, Leopold’s Ice Cream, Repicci’s Italian Ice of Savannah, and Toffee Dolce.

Festivities will kick off at 4 p.m. with fireworks presented by Wet Willie’s at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The event is hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association and sponsored by Wet Willie’s, Capital A Productions, Savannah Coca-Cola, WJCL-abc, TravelHost Savannah and Alpha Media.

Georgia WebMBA ranked by CEO Magazine

STATESBORO — The Georgia WebMBA, the consortium that the Georgia Southern Online MBA is a part of, has been ranked number 10 by CEO Magazine in its Online MBA Rankings.

This comes after the program was ranked number 18 by US News & World Report.

CEO Magazine’s MBA rankings are based on key indicators of interest and value to potential MBA students such as international diversity, class size, student work experience, faculty-to-student ratio and faculty qualifications.
