Trucking firm has job openings

The Schneider trucking firm, with the help of the Georgia Department of Labor, will have a job recruitment session Tuesday, March, 24, to hire about 60 truck drivers.

The recruitment will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the labor department’s Savannah Career Center, 5520 White Bluff Road.

Applicants must be at least 21, have a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) and a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

The company is hiring over-the-road and regional full-time and part-time drivers, team drivers, solo run drivers and owner/operators.

Drivers could earn $61,000 to $81,000 annually, depending on experience and work type. Experienced drivers may be eligible for a hiring bonus of up to $7,500.

Rincon manufacturer recruiting workers

Georgia Transformer Corporation (GTC) wants to hire 32 workers for its manufacturing plant in Rincon. The company manufactures high-voltage transformers for utility companies.

A recruitment will be 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 28, at the company headquarters at 2789 Highway 21 South.

GTC is hiring control engineers, drafting personnel, test laboratory engineers, sales associates, field service managers, cost accountants, design engineers, quality engineers, applications engineers, information technology (IT) support staff, field service technical support and production workers.

Applicants must be at least 18. They should bring resumes to the recruitment and dress appropriately to improve their chances of being hired.

Choate Construction honored for community work

Choate Construction Co.’s Atlanta and Savannah offices have been selected as the recipient of the 2014 Community Spirit Award by the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The award will be presented April 2 in Atlanta.

“Through their unwavering support and dedication to ultimately curing cystic fibrosis, Choate is a valued leader in the foundation’s mission and is most deserving of this recognition and distinction”, said Scot Rittenbaum, the chapter’s executive director.

During the past year Choate hosted the “Clays for a Cause” clay shoot in Savannah, “Cars & Q for the Cause” car show in Atlanta and supported Great Strides walks in Savannah, Atlanta and throughout Georgia.

In addition, Choate sponsored ShamRockin’ for a Cure, CF Cycle for Life and The Peachtree Society Finest Program.

Overall, Choate Construction has raised close to $2 million for the foundation.
