A children’s clothing designer is releasing her first tween clothing line and utilizing Savannah as a backdrop for a national ad campaign.
Denise DeMarchis of Matilda Jane Clothing announced the release of “435,” its first tween collection targeting girls between the ages of 10-12, in a press release this week.
The new line will prominently feature Savannah in print, social media and Web ads after a photo shoot was wrapped up in December for the clothing company at the Jepson Center for the Arts on Telfair Square.
Robyn Shirley is a Hilton Head-based independent seller of the line, referred to as a trunk keeper, and serves as team leader for the Southeast. She recently expanded her business to Savannah.
“Tweens are loving the cool simplicity of the line and how it reflects their style,” Shirley said in a statement. “It has a decidedly more grown up feel, but not too grown up.”
In developing the new line, Matilda Jane looked to the trunk keepers’ daughters for insight on fashion, fit and functionality. Several members of this council were chosen to model their creations at the 435 photo shoot.
“I am thrilled that our beautiful city was selected for the photo shoot and will be so prominently featured in the Matilda Jane national spring marketing campaign,” said Shirley.
