

Ralph Stagner, the manager of Industrial Packaging’s Savannah Containerboard Mill, will retire at the end of 2015, International Paper has announced.
Stagner joined the company following the acquisition of Temple-Inland in 2003, and the announcement said Stagner will help the mill’s leadership transition.
“I want to personally thank Ralph for his leadership at our Savannah Containerboard Mill and positioning the mill for the future,” said John Grover, IP’s, vice president, Manufacturing, Containerboard-East, Industrial Packaging.
“Ralph has had a long, very successful career in the packaging and paper industry, and we wish him and his wife, Shari, best wishes in their future plans.”
In a related announcement, David Castro has been named manager of International Paper’s Savannah Containerboard Mill and will assume overall leadership responsibility for the facility.
Since 2011, Castro has been the Mill Manager at International Paper’s Springfield, Ore., Containerboard Mill. In his more than 33 years with the company, Castro has held various roles of increasing responsibility in manufacturing at IP’s Mansfield and Red River, La., Containerboard Mills and the Springfield Mill.
“David has done an outstanding job leading the Springfield team and positioning the mill for continued success,” said Roman Gallo, IP’s, vice president, Manufacturing, Containerboard-West. “His leadership and manufacturing experience at a number of mills will be an asset to the Savannah team.
“We are confident he will provide excellent leadership for the Savannah mill to reach another level of success and sustainable performance.”
