Kroger customers raise money for MDA
ATLANTA — Customers and employees in Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes 11 stores in metro Savannah, have donated more than $292,000 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The annual initiative, which ran from March 8–21, encouraged Kroger customers to buy $1 or $5 shamrocks to help the MDA send thousands of young patients to summer camps and provide comprehensive health care, medical equipment, wheelchairs, support services and clinics to those affected by more than 40 forms of neuromuscular diseases.
“More than 1.5 million Americans develop a neuromuscular disease each year and look to the MDA for assistance,” said Kroger spokesman Glynn Jenkins. “Kroger is fortunate to have so many generous customers and associates whose generosity helped us exceed our goal.”
Since 2001, Atlanta Division stores have raised more than $4.3 million to benefit the MDA.
