Savannah State business school maintains accreditation
The College of Business Administration at Savannah State University has maintained the accreditation of its programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, International, a specialized agency that accredits business and accounting degree programs worldwide.
The college earned its accreditation in 2005, after an extensive process that included self-evaluation by the SSU business faculty and a site visit by a peer review team of deans from business schools already accredited.
To maintain its accreditation, the college underwent a review that included a continuous improvement report and a site visit by a peer review team of deans for other accredited business schools.
The college also had to show a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
“AACSB accreditation is a globally recognized standard for the highest-quality in business education. Currently, fewer than 5 percent of business schools worldwide are AACSB accredited,” said Mostafa Sarhan, the business college dean.
AACSB International out of Tampa, Fla., is a not-for-profit organization with more than 1,400 members in 90 countries and territories.
Armstrong to offer in-state tuition
Armstrong State University will offer in-state tuition to residents of Florida, South Carolina and Alabama beginning in the 2015 fall semester. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents recently voted to offer in-state tuition at 10 public universities, including Armstrong.
Armstrong president Linda M. Bleicken said the change will allow students in those “to attend a public university that is deeply invested in their futures, without the financial burden of out-of-state-tuition.”
While many Georgia universities, including Armstrong, already have agreements with certain counties in neighboring states to allow students to attend college at in-state tuition rates, the new policy will expand those agreements statewide.
