Gas prices down slightly in metro Savannah

Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 2.2 cents a gallon in the past week to $2.25 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.

The national average has fallen 3.0 cents a gallon in the last week to $2.39, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Prices Sunday in metro Savannah were $1.24 a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 6.9 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 7.3 cents a gallon during the last month and stands $1.18.5 a gallon lower than this day one year ago.

“The current downward trend in the national average bucks what we were seeing a year ago when gasoline prices were in an upward trend, and what we’re seeing with prices remaining relatively low should boost motorist confidence as the summer driving season nears,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst.

Wound care centers recognized for excellence

The Center for Hyperbarics and Wound Care at St. Joseph’s/Candler has earned the Center of Distinction Award for achieving outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months.

The measured outcomes included patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal and other quality outcomes.

St. Joseph’s/Candler was recognized by Healogics Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. Only 172 of 506 centers eligible for the award were recognized.

“We’ve aggressively expanded our wound care practice all over the region because of the high rates of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease we see,” said Susan Howell, director of professional practice and specialty services at St. Joseph’s/Candler.

St. Joseph’s/Candler has three wound care locations: Candler Hospital, Moss Creek Village in Bluffton and Hinesville. For more information, go to www.sjchs.org/hyperbarics.
