The Savannah Development and Renewal Authority presented its Golden Broom award for the first quarter of 2015 to Ellsworth-Hallett Home Professionals during a ceremony April 3 in front of the business at 1301 Lincoln St.

The award is given to recognize a business that enhances the area in front of its location and goes above and beyond to ensure the property is clean and free of litter. “Aside from being attractive and well kept, Ellsworth-Hallett Home Professionals is a great example of creative and adaptive reuse in the area,” said Erika Archibald, vice chairman of the authority.

“In a city like Savannah, a number of important factors converge to make a pleasing and appropriate exterior. The award recognizes the efforts of the business to do that in whatever direction they have taken.”

Winners receive a $250 gift certificate along with their official Golden Broom.

The Lincoln Street location was a Standard Oil Co. gas station dating back to the 1920s and later served as Beckton’s Auto Repair from the 1960s to the early 2000s.

Frank Ellsworth and Matthew Hallett bought the building in 2012, and it functions as two professional offices. One portion houses the design studio and offices for Ellsworth-Hallett Home Professionals.

The front portion of the building, including the original structure, houses The Savannah Bicycle Campaign, Georgia Bikes!, and Healthy Savannah.
