Firm to recruit for manufacturing positions
Staffing company Ambassador Personnel will be recruiting Tuesday to hire 18 manufacturing workers for companies in Savannah, Pooler and Bloomingdale.
The recruitment will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the state labor department’s Savannah Career Center, 5520 White Bluff Road.
The positions, requirements and salaries: bi-lingual medical receptionist proficient in English and Spanish, one year experience, $12 per hour; computer numerical control (CNC) machinist, two years of experience, $15 to $18 per hour; CNC programmer/machinist, two years of experience, $20 per hour; forklift operators, two years of experience, $10.50 per hour; and a packer/machine operator, no experience required, $8.50 per hour.
Applicants must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or a general education diploma (GED) and pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Achievement award goes to Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion
The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler has earned the 2014 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
The Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion is among only 75 U.S. health care facilities with accredited cancer programs to receive this honor for last year. The award acknowledges cancer programs that achieve excellence in providing quality care.
“This award demonstrates that the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion can offer patients the most up to date and complete cancer care that is available,” said H.A. Zaren, medical director of the pavilion.
The cancer pavilion was evaluated on 34 program standards.

Dental group schedules fun day to benefit diabetes fight
Morrison Dental Associates will host a Family Fun Day from 2-4 p.m. April 18 at Wing Zone on Eisenhower Drive for its American Diabetes Association’s Kiss-A-Pig fundraising campaign.
The day will include a wing-eating contest, children’s fairy tale costume contest, an inflatable bounce house, face paintings and photos with a pony. Entry into the wing-eating contest is $10, and all proceeds will go to the fundraising campaign.
Tickets for the wing-eating contest are available at Wing Zone in the Eisenhower Square shopping center and at the Morrison Dental Associates offices, 207 E. 31st St, 6602 Abercorn St., Suite 101 and 318 Johnny Mercer Blvd., Suite 12. Tickets also will be available at the event.
