The first Allegiant Air flight from Cincinnati to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport landed Friday afternoon, filled with weekend tourists looking for a taste of Savannah’s history or perhaps Hilton Head Island’s golf courses.
Flight 656 marked the beginning of seasonal service between the two cities, a service that has already proven so popular with Ohioans that the low-cost carrier extended flights — originally announced to end in August — through Oct. 11.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant will offer three new routes to Savannah/Hilton Head from cities in Ohio. Flights from Akron/Canton start May 21 and end Aug. 15, while flights from Columbus begin June 4 and will be available through Aug. 16.
