Gas prices up nearly 3 cents in metro Savannah
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have risen 2.8 cents a gallon in the past week to $2.52 gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has increased 5.0 cents a gallon in the last week to $2.71, says gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday in the Savannah were $1.08.8 a gallon lower than a year ago and are 19.0 cents higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 26.9 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 94.0 cents lower than a year ago.
“The rise we’ve seen in the national average over the month is showing signs of fading,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst.
ReStore Savannah to open new location today
The Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its relocation of its ReStore in Savannah at 4 p.m. today in the home of the former Food Lion on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
“This allows us more space to sell our inventory and also to move our offices, warehouse and learning center to a central location,” said executive director Michael Weathers.
The 28,000-square-foot building at 701 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is adjacent to Carver State Bank’s main branch location.
Mayor Edna Jackson, City Manager Stephanie Cutter, Alderman Van Johnson and Carver State Bank President Robert James are expected to be on hand.

Women’s Half, 5K registration open for 2016
The Savannah Sports Council has announced that registration is open for the 2016 Publix Savannah Women’s Half and 5K. The event will take place April 2, 2016.
“The sports council wants to make the Publix Savannah Women’s Half and 5K one of the top women’s race events in the country,” said Ben Wilder, Savannah Sports Council director.
The route, with start and finish lines located in Forsyth Park, takes runners through 12 of Savannah’s squares and Daffin Park.
A Fashion Fitness Expo will be held the day before the race from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Savannah DeSoto for packet pick-up, shopping and entertainment.
Registration fees start at $65 for the half marathon and $25 for the 5K.
