Armstrong Liberty Center to offer new master’s degree

HINESVILLE — The Armstrong Liberty Center, which serves as the Hinesville location for Armstrong State University, will offer a new master’s degree in professional communication and leadership starting in fall 2015.

Courses will be offered in a flexible, seven-week minimester format, with evening and online options.

“The fact that students will be able to earn this interdisciplinary degree in Hinesville from start to finish, without travel to another campus, is extraordinary,” said Col. Pete Hoffman, director of the Armstrong Liberty Center.

Students will complete four core writing and management courses — professional communication strategies, technical editing, organizational communication in diverse contexts and leadership in the public arena — in addition to six electives.

College to offer friends and family day

Virginia College in Savannah will host a Summer Friends & Family Day: Look to the Future event for staff, former, current and prospective students and families from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, on the campus at 14045 Abercorn St., Suite 1503.

Attendees are also invited to enjoy several activities for all ages, attend a health fair and donate food items to a local charity.

The event is free and open to the public. Planned activities for the whole family will include a bounce house, face painting, coloring opportunities, games, a cake walk, free food and prizes for children.

Program exhibits will be set up to demonstrate future career possibilities, and campus tours will be offered.
