Savannah Domino’s to hire 100 new employees

Domino’s in Savannah is looking to hire 100 new employees across eleven stores, according to franchise owner Mike Orcutt.

The positions include delivery drivers, assistant managers and general managers.

“We are dedicated to this area and are excited about the opportunity to offer additional jobs within the community, and to grow in the Savannah community,” Orcutt said. “The growth of the community and success of Domino’s allows us to build on our franchise, so we can continue to do what we do best – make great pizzas and deliver them with exceptional service.”

Orcutt began his career at Domino’s as a driver in 1974 and now has more than 100 stores in the South.

Effingham schools receive donation from Parker’s

Parker’s convenience stores recently presented a $5,000 Fueling the Community check to Effingham County schools. The donation, which is part of a larger unrestricted charitable contribution to area schools, was presented at the Effingham County Board of Education meeting on May 6.

“We’re grateful for our Effingham County customers and want to show our appreciation by helping making a positive impact on local schools,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of Parker’s.

Parker’s donates one cent of every gallon of gas purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to area schools through the Fueling the Community program.

Parker’s operates 37 convenience stores across the region and employs nearly 500 people in Georgia and South Carolina.

Box fans wanted for senior citizens

Senior Citizens, Inc. is kicking off its annual fan drive, which provides fans at no cost to seniors in the local community who are without effective household cooling.

“As temperatures begin to rise, we are especially concerned for those in our community at the highest risk for heat-related illnesses that at times can be fatal,” said SCI president Patti Lyons. “Each year, thanks to the generosity of our community, we are able to donate hundreds of fans in the local area to help those older adults in dire situations.”

SCI is asking for donations of new electric box fans that can be dropped off at 3025 Bull St. between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

To qualify for a fan, seniors must be 55 years or older, have an income of less than $1,000 a month and must provide proof of income and a photo ID.
