MDA receives donation from Burger King franchises

Alex Salgueiro, president/CEO of Savannah Restaurants Corp., which has 11 Burger King franchises in the Greater Savannah area, recently gave a check for $5,100 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Crystal Feller, Muscular Dystrophy Fundraising coordinator from Charleston, and Savannah resident Perri Shamblin, an MDA Ambassador and rising senior at St. Vincent’s Academy, accepted the grant.

The money was raised in February and March as part of the MDA Shamrock program.

“These shamrocks make a bold statement by raising awareness and critical donations to help people with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other related life-threatening diseases live longer and stay stronger,” Salgueiro said. “We appreciate both our employees and customers for going all out to support such a worthy cause during these difficult economic times.”

The money will send Perri and other MDA Ambassadors from Savannah to camp for a week this July and help pay for their visits to MDA clinics.
