The Next Generation’s board of directors has presented a check to The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center for $85,000.
The organization raised the money with the support and contributions of more than 300 members as well as corporate sponsors of its annual Barbeque, Brews and Bluegrass events and donations from a number of supporting groups.
Part of the donation will help cover the costs of three recently renovated rooms at the hospital, including new couches, recliners and other elements to make them more comfortable when families are required to be in the hospital with their children.
Additional funds will help fund SAFEKIDS Savannah, a program that promotes safety and education for the prevention of accidents with children, and buy five large mobile-gaming systems to keep children entertained during their hospital stay.
The hospital’s administrator, Dr. Eric Pearman, said Children’s has play spaces, toys and equipment such as gaming stations that would not be possible without support from organizations such as the Next Generation.
“We are very thankful for their support of The Children’s Hospital,” Pearman said.
