Small Business Chamber plans holiday breakfast

Savannah’s Small Business Chamber will hold its holiday breakfast Tuesday from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Mulberry Inn, 601 E. Bay St.

Attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots and members of the U.S. Marines will be on-hand to collect the donations.

The cost is $20 for members, $25 for guests with a limit of 50 people. Tickets will be available at the door if space permits.

THA group hospice volunteers needed

Island Hospice, a nonprofit 501(c)3 in-home hospice is seeking volunteers for patient socialization and caregiver respite.

The hospice also is looking for non-patient-contact volunteers who can provide services such as office work, crafting, sewing, light yard work and light housekeeping, as well as licensed hair dressers and musicians who would like to play guitar for patients.

THA serves Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Savannah, Pooler, Richmond Hill and Statesboro.

IHOP to offer free pancakes in fundraiser

IHOP restaurants will invite guests to enjoy free pancakes from 7-10 a.m. during National Pancake Day on Feb. 5 while celebrating Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ 30th Anniversary.

Restaurant goers will be encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital or other local charities. One hundred percent of the donations will help local charities provide vital equipment, life-saving procedures and critical care for sick and injured children.

Grape-stomping contest scheduled

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The 2013 Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival, presented by The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa is gearing up for the 28th Annual event scheduled for March 4-9. One of the pre-festival events taking place in January is “Uncork” the Festival on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 6-8 p.m.

All festival sponsor partners and local civic clubs are invited to assemble a team of two people for the Grape Stomping Competition. Each team must be comprised of at least one “I Love Lucy” look-alike member.

The team that produces the most grape juice wins money to be donated to their favorite charity: 1st Prize of $300, 2nd prize of $200 and 3rd prize of $100. There will also be a bonus $100 cash prize awarded to the team with the best “I Love Lucy” look-alike.
