New Wet Willie’s to open in City Market

Wet Willie’s chain of daiquiri bars and full-service restaurants will open its newest location in Savannah’s City Market today.

The restaurant and bar will be the company’s 13th location and the third in the Savannah area. The flagship location opened on River Street in 1990 and the Tybee Island restaurant opened on Tybrisa Street in 2012.

The restaurant at 232 W. St. Julian St. will feature two levels of dining, indoor and outdoor seating, hand-painted murals by Bill Wrigley and restored original interior décor features.

The restaurant and bar will serve lunch and dinner daily. It will open at 11 a.m. Monday-Saturday and close at 1 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and at 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. For information, call 912-235-5651 or go to www.wetwillies.com.

Corrections Dept. to host military job fair

The Georgia Department of Corrections, with the Georgia Department of Defense and Georgia National Guard, will host several law enforcement agencies and companies for a military personnel job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 at the National Guard Armory in Glennville.

Agencies include the corrections department, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Public Safety, Department of Natural Resources and the state Board of Pardons and Paroles; companies include GEO Group and Corrections Corporation of America.

Together, they have about 800 jobs available. The event is free and open to veterans who register online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MilitaryJobFair.

Golf outing set for Rebuilding Together Savannah

Rebuilding Together Savannah will return to Sterling Links in Richmond Hill for its fourth annual golf tournament on March 25. Proceeds go toward bringing volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners.

The Four Man/Woman Captain’s Choice (scramble) event will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided. The cost is $75 per person and includes golf, range balls, lunch and awards. Mulligans are available for $5 (limited to two per player).

Grand opening for new Firestone store

Representatives of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, local community leaders and members of the Bridgestone retail operations team will be on hand today to celebrate the grand opening of a new Firestone Complete Auto Care location.

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting will take place at 11 a.m. at the store at 11508 Abercorn St.
