The Georgia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has announced the candidates for the organization’s inaugural Savannah Man & Woman of the Year competition.

Ten local professionals will compete for the title in honor of local children who are blood cancer survivors — the Boy and Girl of the Year. The candidates will work with their families, friends and contacts to raise as much money as possible for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The titles are awarded to the man and woman who raise the most funds in a 10-week period. The top fundraisers in the country win the national titles.

The 2013 Savannah Man & Woman of the Year class includes:

• Jason Anderson, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

• Hailey Blakley, The Jones Co./Flash Foods.

• Rob Bowden, Bernard Williams & Company.

• Tom Carter, BlackStone International LLC.

• Emily Dickinson, Wet Willie’s Management Corp.

• Tal Johnson, Dabbs, Hickman, Hill & Cannon LLP.

• John Manly, Bouhan Falligant LLP.

• Jeff O’Connor, SunTrust Banks Inc.

• Anne Shealy, J&L Glass Inc.

• Jamie Smith, Coastal Home Care Inc.

The candidates were selected by a nominating committee chaired by Henry Minis and David Slatinsky.

The inaugural Savannah Man & Woman of the Year campaign will kick off March 20 at the DeSoto Hilton Hotel and finish at a grand finale gala on May 31 at the Morris Center.
