The YMCA of Coastal Georgia announced Tuesday night it raised $620,790 during its annual Priceless Gift Campaign, exceeding its goal for 2013 by more than $20,000.
The announcement came during the organization’s 158th annual meeting at the Richmond Hill City Center, 520 Cedar St.
Money raised during the campaign benefits the YMCA’s financial assistance program, which helps provide YMCA programs and memberships to children, adults and families in its six-county service area. In 2012, the YMCA provided a total community benefit of just under $2 million.
That includes financial aid to more than 12,000 people who otherwise would not have been able to take part in YMCA programs or memberships.
During Tuesday’s meeting, outgoing corporate board chairman Pastor Herb Hubbard of Bible Baptist Church handed over the gavel for the office to his successor, David Mason of Lorwill Land Corporation.
David Mason, whose term began at the annual meeting, will be the active board chair until 2015. He joins the slate of incoming officers on the YMCA Corporate Board who include vice chairman Gregori Anderson; secretary Allan Reynolds; and treasurer Gary Davis.
The incoming Corporate Board of Directors elected new or returning are: Richard Moore, Kimberley Pannell, Lt. Gen. Donald Rosenblum, Ret., Iraj Shambayati, Lamar Smith, Todd Timmons, Jim Tait and Jim Turner.
The YMCA of Coastal Georgia operates 12 units in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, McIntosh and Glynn counties. For more information, go to ymcaofcoastalga.org.
