Foreclosure rates down in Savannah

Foreclosure rates in Savannah decreased for the month of January over the same period last year, according to newly released data from CoreLogic, a financial data reporting firm.

The CoreLogic data reveals that the rate of Savannah area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 1.46 percent for January 2013, down 0.25 percentage points from January 2012 when the rate was 1.71 percent. Foreclosure activity in Savannah was lower than the national rate, which was 2.90 percent for January 2013.

Also in Savannah, the mortgage delinquency rate decreased. According to CoreLogic data for January 2013, 5.76 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to 6.38 percent for the same period last year, representing a decrease of 0.62 percentage points.

Gas prices fall in metro Savannah

Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 3.5 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.57 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.

The national average has fallen 2.5 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.64, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Prices Sunday were 23.7 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 19.0 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 9.5 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 21.9 cents lower than a year ago.

“Average gasoline prices have continued to quietly move lower in the last week across much of the United States at a time of year when we historically are accustomed to seeing prices move higher,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “As of late last week, all 50 states saw lower gasoline prices than the same date last year.
