Building permits made easy Saturday
The city of Savannah will hold its second annual home improvement permitting day from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the southside Home Depot, 11180 Abercorn St.
City development services staff will be on hand to answer questions and offer guidance on building permits, plan reviews and inspections. People with proper documentation can secure the appropriate permits on the spot, a process that typically takes one to two weeks.
The event is geared for homeowners who are considering a home improvement project such as a new porch, deck, shed, driveway or fence; finishing a bonus room or storage area; enclosing a patio, porch or deck; installing a new bathroom or kitchen fixture; replacing windows or a roof; making energy upgrades; installing central air conditioning or installing a swimming pool.
