Leadership Savannah class open to applicants
Applications for the 2013–14 Leadership Savannah class are currently being accepted with a deadline of June 14. This will be a one-year class.
The 2013–14 class will be limited to 42 people, and the selections committee is seeking representation from a cross-section of the community. Applicants must have the full support of their organization or the corporation they represent.
The programs are being finalized but are expected to consist of monthly interactive sessions led by top community experts within their fields. Sessions are expected to begin in September and conclude in June 2014.
Applicants will be expected to attend all of the sessions in order to graduate. All applicants must go through the selections process, and full program fees will be $2,500, with a limited number of $1,000 scholarships available based on need.

Job fair being held today for military spouses
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host “Hiring Our Heroes — Fort Stewart” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Club Stewart, 1020 Hero Road, Building 405, at Fort Stewart.
The job fair for spouses of active duty, national guard, reserves and retired veterans is part of the Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Employment Program. It’s dedicated to improving the lives of working military spouses by lifting them out of unemployment and underemployment.
Since its launch in March 2011, Hiring Our Heroes has been able to help more than 100,000 veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. More than 18,400 of those hires came directly from more than 480 hiring fairs the program has held nationwide.
Walk-in job seekers are allowed.
Florist launches ‘containers for cancer’
John Davis Florist, a floral design shop at 2430 Abercorn St., has kicked off a Containers for Cancer program to benefit victims of breast cancer from now through Mother’s Day on May 12.
The Containers for Cancer program will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every empty container or vase dropped off at John Davis Florist through Mother’s Day. In addition, for every Mother’s Day flower order received, a $5 donation will be made on behalf of the Containers for Cancer program.
