Lunch and learn in Pooler

The Pooler Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a lunch and learn on Tuesday, May 21, at Hilton Garden Inn, 80 Clyde E. Martin Drive, near Interstate 95 exit 104.

The event will feature a seminar by Lanelle Henderson, regional development director of Constant Contact Georgia, will have added bonuses, including a free website match and teach how to create affordable local deals.

Register and pay by May 9 and the cost is $17 for Pooler Chamber Members and $22 for non-members (add $5 after May 9).

Historic preservation awards include 4 in Savannah

Four Savannah projects were among 23 awards presented April 28 by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation during its 36th annual Preservation Awards ceremony in Milledgeville.

Savannah’s Pin Point Heritage Museum was one of two Excellence in Restoration winners. The other was the Hill House at Andalusia in Milledgeville.

Excellence in Preservation winners included Savannah Children’s Museum Exploration Station and the Savannah College of Art and Design Museum of Art.

Three awards were presented to recognize Excellence in Stewardship in historic preservation. The winners are: Atkinson Family Home, Madison; Massie Heritage Center, Savannah; and Vinings Historic Preservation Society, Vinings.

The Old Post Office in Dublin received the Marguerite Williams Award as the project that has had the greatest impact on preservation in the state. Built in 1911, the building was recognized for Excellence in Restoration.

Ole Times Country Buffet opens in Savannah

Restaurant operators Pat O’Neal and David Lann have opened an Ole Times Country Buffet at 209 Stephenson Ave.

The restaurant, which opened April 24, is the chain’s 10th location and will employ more than 100 people.

The restaurant serves southern-style, home-cooked food.

“We are looking forward to entering the Savannah market and expect great things from this venture,” O’neal said. “We hope that all the people of Savannah, Bluffton, Richmond Hill and the surrounding communities will visit us for the best buffet in town.”

‘Refer Madness’ networking event scheduled

Revenu of Greater Savannah (formerly NuBarter) and Creative Approach will host “Reefer Madness,” a business social and networking event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13.

Admission to the event at 408 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is free.

The event will include wine, hors d’oeuvres and door prizes, and specials on memberships.
