Auto dealer to head fundraising effort

JESUP — NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC is spearheading a community fundraising effort through Aug. 24 to benefit Fair Haven in Jesup, dealer principal Chad NeSmith announced Wednesday.

Raffle tickets are being sold for a 2013 Chevy Spark to raise money for the nonprofit domestic violence shelter that helps women and children get on their feet by providing them with housing, food, clothing, job interviews and more.

With the help from Jesup AdvoCare and people in the Jesup community, the goal is to raise $10,000.

The raffle began Wednesday. Anyone who orders a box of Spark Energy Drink ($22.95) from Jesup AdvoCare during the fundraising period will receive a raffle ticket, and all of the proceeds of the sales of Spark Energy Drink will benefit Fair Haven.

People may also buy separate raffle tickets for $20 with the proceeds benefiting Fair Haven. Tickets are available at NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC and Jesup Advocare and from community members.

The winner of the Chevy Spark will be announced at the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes — Men’s March Against Domestic Violence” event on Aug. 24.
