Exchange in brief

New Zaxby’s to open on Victory Drive

The fifth Zaxby’s restaurant in Savannah will open Monday morning at 1917 E. Victory Drive in the Victory Square Shopping Center.

Hours for the new restaurant will be 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. seven days a week.

“We’ve always wanted to bring a Zaxby’s to this area of Savannah,” said Chris Booker, the licensee for the restaurant with his wife, Jenny. “Zaxby’s has built its reputation and loyal following by providing excellent service and great-tasting food, and we plan to carry on that tradition with this new, convenient location.”

The 3,400-square-foot location will seat 74 people and also will offer drive-thru service.

Chris Booker said he and and his wife believe the restaurant will exceed community expectations.

The new location will be the seventh for Chatham County and the 205th in Georgia. Zaxby’s operates more than 570 locations in 13 states.

Tourism agency to offer social responsibility services

Tourism recruiter Visit Savannah has launched a corporate social responsibility service program to work with visiting meetings and convention groups.

In addition to transportation, accommodations and meals, meeting planning professionals can coordinate with local charities to offer their convention attendees the opportunity to add service projects during their time in Savannah.

Destination services manager Kim Rodenberg said several meeting planners already have approached her asking for service opportunities.

The destination services team has compiled a list of local charity organizations that can plan service projects for incoming large groups, meetings and conventions.

They include: America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia; American Diabetes Association; Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity; Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens; the Salvation Army; Savannah Ocean Exchange; United Way — Hands On Savannah; and the West Broad YMCA.

The first 50 customers will receive a free Jet’s Pizza T-shirt.

“We invite everyone to stop in for a free slice on May 18,” said Mark Wallace, who co-owns the store with his wife, Adrienne.
