Women’s golf association donates to cancer research

The Landings Women’s Golf Association — better known as the LWGA — delivered a check for $87,068 this week to support research at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI) at Memorial University Medical Center.

This marks the ninth year the LWGA has raised money for original cancer research and to support work led by Dr. Dominique Broccoli.

The money comes from the LWGA “Golfing for a Cure” Golf Tournament, with additional funds from a companion event that was added last year and continued this year, the “Bidding for a Cure” Silent Auction.

The proceeds represent the donations and efforts of the event’s naming sponsor, Prudential Southeast Coastal Properties, and hundreds of other Skidaway Island and Savannah area individuals, organizations and companies.
