Savannah gas prices drop slightly
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 1.6 cents per gallon in the past week to $3.34 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy.com’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has fallen 1.5 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.64, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday were 1.3 cents a gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are unchanged versus a month ago. The national average has increased 13.1 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 3.1 cents higher than a year ago.
“One thing remains the same throughout the United States, and that is we’re still reliant on oil refineries to process crude oil into gasoline,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “When they go partially offline, whether expected or unexpected, there’s going to be tightness in gasoline supply, and that has an almost immediate impact at the gas pump.”
Memorial on honor roll for patient care
Memorial University Medical Center has been named to the Georgia Hospital Association’s Partnership for Health and Accountability Core Measures Honor Roll. Memorial is among 18 Georgia hospitals to be placed in the presidential category, one of the highest on the list.
The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services and collected between October 2011 and September 2012. Hospitals are required to submit data that details how well they follow specific patient care measures.
Memorial shares this data publicly on its website at memorialhealth.com/quality-data.aspx.
“This recognition further underscores the commitment of the (Memorial) team to ensuring that every patient receives the best, most effective health care possible,” said Joseph Parker, hospital association president.
