New engineering firm founded
Paul Mamalakis, William Parnell, Michelle Peavler and John Gross have launched a new firm, Chatham Engineering Co. LLC, which will provide professional electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design services.
The company’s staff has extensive experience in health care, educational, industrial, civil and other institutional projects.
Their experience includes the Heart Tower at Memorial Health University Medical Center, the Savannah State Student Center and Stadium, the Armstrong Atlantic State University Student Center, the New Hampstead High School, the Candler Hospital Chiller Plant Expansion and the International Trade and Convention Center.

Kickoff breakfast set for ‘light the night’
The corporate campaign for the 2013 Light The Night Walk is set to kick off on Wednesday, June 19, during a breakfast event in the Savannah Morning News auditorium, 1375 Chatham Parkway.
A networking reception will be held from 7:30-8 a.m.; the presentation will begin at 8 a.m. It will explain the mission of the Georgia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and how companies can take part in Savannah’s Light The Night Walk on Friday, Oct. 18, at Forsyth Park.

Firm’s CEO named top ‘dancing’ fundraiser
Kevin Jackson, president and CEO of EnviroVac, was named the top fundraiser at the Dancing Stars of Coastal Georgia benefit on June 8, having raised more than $33,000 to support the Georgia chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, the event reinvented the popular television show “Dancing with the Stars.” Local personalities paired with professional dancers in a one-night gala dance competition and raised funds by gaining votes online to help meet individual goals.
“We can all make a difference and help find a cure for this disease,” Jackson said.
Lunch and learn focuses on Congress
A June 18 lunch and learn sponsored by the Pooler Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Inc. will discuss what’s happening in Washington, D.C., and how it affects local businesses.
A representative from U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston’s office will give an update and answer questions. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at New Birth Savannah’s Pooler location, 118 Pipemakers Circle.
