Senior Citizens Inc. held a recognition ceremony Friday morning for middle-grade students who spent their summer break working with older citizens with different degrees of need in a variety of living situations.
Students who took part in what the organization calls its summer angels program were recognized during the ceremony at the Senior Citizens Inc. headquarters, 3025 Bull St.
Under adult supervision, participating students provide more than 1,000 hours of help.
This summer, 22 students, among other things, have done yard work for Ardsley Park residents, delivered meals for Meals on Wheels recipients, played games and crafts with Ruth Byck Adult Daytime Care clients and taught seniors how to play the Wii at neighborhood activity centers.
Each student was presented with a signed, commemorative letter from Mayor Edna Jackson to honor their volunteer efforts this summer.
