Gas prices slip slightly in metro Savannah
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah fell 3.0 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.51 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has fallen 2.7 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.65, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday were 18.9 cents a gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 21.7 cents a gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 14.0 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 15.0 cents higher than a year ago.
“After an impressive run that saw the national average begin to approach its springtime high, it appears prices have plateaued, at least for now,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “Oil prices appear to be taking a breather, but with the peak of hurricane season approaching, a continued upward trajectory in gasoline prices is certainly possible, should we see a major storm take aim for the Gulf.”
