Kroger customers encouraged to help food bank

Kroger stores throughout the Savannah area are encouraging customers and employees to donate to the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia Food Bank to help replenish their dry grocery section after a freezer rollapsed over the Labor Day weekend.

As of Wednesday, customers can “round-up” their purchase to the nearest dollar amount or make a flat dollar donation at all Savannah-area Kroger stores to help replace more than 1,000 pounds of spoiled food contents.

In addition, Kroger will donate nearly $5,500 in product – including peanut butter, macaroni and cheese and canned green beans – to help rebuild stock.
