Interviews set for veterans, transitioning military
Georgia Tech Professional Education’s Veterans Education, Training and Transition (VET2) program will hold open interviews for veterans and transitioning military on Monday, Dec. 16.
The interviews will begin at 2 p.m. at the Georgia Tech-Savannah campus, 210 Technology Circle.
The interviews are for potential job placement with local companies through the VET2 program. Qualified applicants may be asked to return the following day for interviews with local companies who have partnered with the program.

Bass Pro Shop invites ‘local heroes’
To show appreciation for local heroes and their service, Bass Pro Shop will open its doors from 7-10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, for an evening of activities, shopping, discounts and drawings.
All local heroes — including military members, police, firefighters and EMTs — and their immediate families are invited to attend and must show a badge or other identification.
Heroes and their families can get a free picture taken with Santa until 9 p.m.
Special offers include a 10 percent discount on photo packages purchased in-store and on regularly priced items.
A keepsake ornament will be distributed to the first 100 heroes, and they can enter a drawing for a chance to win a $25 Bass Pro Shop gift card.

‘12 days of Christmas’ discount at Parker’s
Parker’s convenience stores in southeast Georgia and South Carolina will offer discounts of 12 cents a gallon to its 78,000 members of PumpPal during the 12 days of Christmas.
The program, launched in February 2011, usually offers a discount of up to 10 cents a gallon.

Tickets on sale for Hilton Head Island festival
Hilton Head Island, S.C. — Tickets are available for the 29th annual Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival, presented by Taste of the South.
They can be purchased online at www.hiltonheadwineandfood.com for a variety of events scheduled for March 10-15, including the grand tasting and public tasting.
The festival’s signature event, the original public tasting, is considered the largest outdoor tented public wine tasting on the East Coast.
Eric Asimov, chief wine critic for the New York Times, will appear at the grand tasting. Southern cook Christy Jordan, author of “Come Home to Supper” will join the public tasting where autographed copies of her book will be available.
