Classes offered on digital marketing

The Georgia Small Business Development Center will offer a series of classes on digital marketing in February at the Small Business Resource Center at 111 E. Liberty St.

Seating is limited for the clases, which include;

Part 1: ABC’S of SEO on Feb. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. It will discuss how to create an optimized website and get better results.

Part 2: Google tools for your business on Feb.10 from 6 to 8 p.m. This workshop will cover online marketing best practices and will discuss how to reach the right audience, boost your ad performance and track your online traffic.

Part 3: Integrating Pinterest and Facebook into your business on Feb. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. The course will teach business people how to use Pinterest and Facebook properly to gain branding and sales.

Each class costs $49 or $147 for the full series.

Business luncheon to feature Chattanooga mayor

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke will be the featured speaker at the Jan. 8 meeting of the Savannah Downtown Business Association at the Charles H. Morris Center, 10 E. Broad St.

Berke will lead a presentation on “Fibers of the Community” to discuss Chattanooga’s recent rebirth as a city and its resurgence in manufacturing and entrepreneurism spurred by new gigabit infrastructure.

The city has received national attention for its initiatives to spur private partnerships, increase technology and attract new business.

Networking will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and the presentation at noon.

The cost for members if $25 in advance online or $35 at the door; for nonmembers, it’s $35 in advance online or $40 at the door.

Job-training program will cover basic skills

Step Up Savannah’s Chatham Apprentice Program (CAP) is recruiting for the next “E3: Educate, Empower, Employ” job-training class. The four-week intensive program is for men and women interested in increasing their basic employment skills.

The training, free to adults 18 and older, is open to anyone who is unemployed or underemployed. People without a high school diploma or GED are encouraged to apply.

Successful graduates get help with their job search and one-on-one coaching.
