Wells Fargo, SCORE to sponsor state of small business conference

Wells Fargo and SCORE will present the 2014 State of Small Business Conference on April 23 to help Savannah-area small business owners get a true measurement of local economic numbers.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and eleven area experts will have three minutes each to present their information on measurable benchmarks relating to the local small business community.

Speakers will include:

• Michael Toma, director of the Center for Regional Analysis at Armstrong Atlantic State University — small business snapshot;

• Marshall Tuck, corporate small business officer at Gulfstream Aerospace — Gulfstream aerospace and small businesses;

• Paul Schneider, regional coordinator, Region 12, U.S. Department of Labor — work force development challenges for small businesses;

• Kyle Hensel, area director of the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center in Savannah — securing funding with small business counseling;

• Tony O’Reilly, president of the Small Business Assistance Corporation — small business access to capital in the Savannah region;

• Chuck Mitchell, MSK Commercial Realty — commercial real estate trends;

• Mohsen Badran, CEO of Goodwill — identifying and developing reliable labor force;

• Bea Wray, executive director at The Creative Coast — high-tech start-ups;

• Cindy Landolt, revenue director with the city of Savannah — local growth;

• Cristy Lawrence, P.E., Development Services Liaison, city of Savannah — local growth;

• Susanne Toney, assistant professor of economics at the College of Business at Savannah State University — economic indicators.
