SEDA hosting governor
The Savannah Economic Development Authority will host its annual meeting and luncheon on May 22 at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, One International Drive, with keynote speaker Gov. Nathan Deal. Networking is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon beginning at noon.

‘Play it forward’ to benefit nonprofit, playground
The 5th Annual Play It Forward Concert, hosted by Georgia Coastal Area Rotary Clubs, will be May 31 at the Ships of the Sea Museum from 4 to 7 p.m.
Rob Gibson, executive and artistic director at the Savannah Music Festival, will emcee this jazz concert tribute to the late jazz musician Ben Tucker.
The concert line up will feature singers Huxie Scott, Claire Fraiser, and Roger Moss, along with musicians Howard Paul on guitar, Billy Hoffman on drums, Mitch Hennes on bass, Bob Alberti on the piano, Teddy Adams on trombone and Jody Espina on the saxophone.
Complimentary shuttle service to and from the Coastal Georgia Center will be provided.
The concert is a collaborative fundraising effort of the Georgia Coastal Area Rotary Clubs, including: West Chatham, Savannah, Savannah East, Savannah Sunrise, Savannah West, Metro, and Skidaway Island.
Eighty percent of the money raised this year will go toward the Centennial playground project, and 20 percent will go to the Rotary Foundation.

Leadership Savannah applications being accepted
Now through June 13, Leadership Savannah will accept applications for the 2014-2015 class. The year-long course will be limited to 42 participants.
Current and emerging leaders chosen for the class will be active in business, education, the arts, religion, government, community-based organizations and ethnic and minority groups. Applicants must have the full support of the organization or corporation they represent.
The class consists of monthly interactive sessions led by community experts. Sessions will begin in September 2014 and conclude in June of 2015.
All applicants must go through the selection process and pay a fee of $2,500. A limited number of $1,000 need-based scholarships are available.

Savvy small business seminar scheduled
Hancock Askew & Co., LLP and The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center are co-sponsoring a Savvy Small Business Seminar Series. The next seminar, “How to Read a Balance Sheet” will be held on Thursday, May 8, from noon until 1 p.m.
